Newsblog for September 8th, 2021

Greetings Astounding Acolytes!

Another newsblog here just for you! This week’s update is just like what you’d expect here at Bear & Pixie Art Studios. We’ve got a great set of topics to talk about this week that we think you all are going to like. So, without further ado, we’ll get right to it with our newsblog and, as always, we’re hoping that this newsblog makes your day more fantastical in some small way.

1) Week of Reconnaissance and Learning -

From the Business Development Division

This week, we are attending a couple of conventions to help us further our future business goals. One of these is by going to the online art expo LightBox. This awesome conference always has a lot of artists come to it as they teach other aspiring artists skills that can be used to get themselves into the art business as well as possibly create their own projects. The other convention we are going to is Rose City Comic Con in Portland, Oregon. We are hoping to learn a lot from Artist Alley and use our time there to help us prepare for having a table at Artist Alley next year. We also hope to have some fun at the convention as well. Regardless, next week we will be showing you all the different things we have learned and all of the fun we had so stay tuned for next week’s newsblog for all the fun stuff and info we’ll share!

2) Gotta Catch All the Nostalgia! –

From the Nostalgia Entertainment Department

Pixie and I have really been on a Pokémon kick lately, so we started rewatching some of the classic Pokémon movies. Two of the ones that we watched recently that you should watch yourself are Pokémon 4Ever and Pokémon Heroes. We haven’t seen these movies in forever and it was a real treat to watch them again. Don’t get me wrong, they certainly are not perfect, they are heartwarming and funny in their own ways. If you’re looking for a good movie to watch with your family one night to laugh at and just enjoy for what it is, these Pokémon movies are it! They do have great animation and, if you’re a Pokémon fan, are great to watch anyway. We’d give both movies a solid 6 out of 10. They are both worth watching at least once and can create a fun movie night for everyone involved. Link to watch these Pokémon movies, and all the other ones, is down below. 3) Artist Shout-Out

From the Artist Relations Department

This week’s artist shoutout goes to artist Damon Moran. Every week, we like to highlight artists who are just absolutely killing it with their art and Damon Moran is no exception. This artist is a supreme master of using line, lighting, and shadow. I love how his line art especially is so clean and minimal. At times, you can’t even tell where the lines are in his pieces. Your brain can just translate his illustrations so well that sometimes I feel like I’m looking at a picture of a car or a 3D rendering instead of a 2D illustration. Please go over to his Instagram and show him some love with a follow! [We are not sponsored by Dan Moran. We are only fans and genuinely wanted to give a shoutout.]

4) We Just Need “Some Good News” -

From the Division for Uplifting Messages

Recently, we have really been inundated in our culture with some really bad news. The kind of bad news I’m talking about are different news companies (basically all of them) that don’t engage in just reporting the news. These companies engage in making it up, stirring up fear and division, and making everyone more depressed than they were before. It really seems like this has gone on for such a long time since before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and hasn’t stopped since then. I was so hungry to find something, anything, that could give me just a little bit of a pick-me-up in my day. That’s when I stumbled upon John Krasinski’s “Some Good News” channel on YouTube. Lately, I’ve been back on his channel again just rewatching a lot of the videos he made when he had the time to invest into making videos for that channel. If you’re looking for a respite from these insanely, crazy times, then I highly recommend you check it out. Hopefully, in the future, there might be an opportunity to have “Some Good News” be a running weekly show. Also, if you haven’t already, go out and support everything John Krasinski is doing. He is one of the most talented, genuine, and amazing people to ever grace the planet Earth. He, by far, is an awesome human who has been a part of a lot of amazing entertainment. So, show him some love by watching anything and everything he’s in or by helping him when you can with his charity work. Seriously, this guy is truly fantastic! The link to the “Some Good News” channel is below. Please go check it out for yourself!

5) Great Nintendo, Anime, and More Fan Art! -

From the Creative Illustration Department

As I was scouring the internet one day, I came across this amazing Legend of Zelda fan art. Honestly, I don’t know how I’ve never seen this piece, or any of the other ones that this artist has made. Her name is Toni Infante and, if you want to see more of her amazing art that puts her own art style’s unique spin on pop culture’s popular pieces of media, please consider checking out her Patreon and becoming a follower! Seriously, her stuff is awesome and will always make your favorite pop culture franchises pop even more. You’ll be using her art as wallpapers or screen savers before you know it. [We are not sponsored by Toni Infante. We are only fans and genuinely wanted to give a shoutout.]

That's it for this one! Thank you for reading our newsblog. If you feel so inclined, please check out our Patreon Page and consider becoming a patron yourself. Also, please give us a follow on all the socials. Hope you have a great weekend!
