Newsblog for October 20th, 2021

Greetings Cheerful Crusaders!

Another newsblog coming your way! This week, we wanted to show you more of work behind-the-scenes on our Christmas children’s book dummy, stuff that’s been sparking our interest, and some other little nuggets of awesomeness that will hopefully make your day better! We really hope you guys enjoy this week’s newsblog and we can’t wait to continue giving you more of these updates in the weeks to come.

1) Brotherly Love in our Christmas Story! -

From the Character Creation Unit

As we continue to put this dummy book together, Pixie and I can’t wait to see it turned into a children’s book someday! We wanted to give you another peek behind the curtain at the studio to show you a peek at the design using the youngest brother, Brody, with his older brother Bryson. Before, you’ve seen Brooklyn and Brody so this week we thought it would be a good idea to show off the other brother. We hope that, maybe eventually, you’ll get to really know all three of theses cute kids during their Christmas adventure. For now, we can only give you these little glimpses of them. If you want to see more of our behind-the-scenes stuff, or whatever else we’re working on, please stay tuned to all things Bear & Pixie in the coming months for more story and art goodies!

2) Pulling Another Great Show off the Shelf –

From the Timeless Entertainment Division

Continuing in the same vein as the last couple of weeks, we thought we’d give you another recommendation from the vault of awesome cartoons that we’ve watched as we grew up. One cartoon in particular that I watched as the MCU was just beginning on the big screen was Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. This show, before the MCU really was able to do it in full force like they do now, was able to combine a lot of the awesome Avengers stories from the comics and, with some splashes of influence from their big screen counterparts, make a really awesome cartoon that had amazing character development, well-paced storytelling, and fun! We definitely recommend that you give this cartoon a watch as it is a definite 8 out of 10 in our book. You can find this show on Disney+ (although you will need a subscription to watch it). 3) Artist Shout-Out

From the Artist Relations Department

This week, our artist shoutout goes to concept artist and illustrator Oliver Beck. Oliver does some incredible landscape illustration work that you really must see for yourself. He uses the same techniques that you would find in CG rendering to bring about pieces that have incredible color, lighting, and energy that all blend together to instantly transport you to a whole other world. Please make sure you go over Oliver’s Instagram and give it a follow to show some support to this amazing creator. [We are not sponsored by Oliver Beck. We are only fans and genuinely wanted to give a shoutout.]

4) Recommended Reading Material -

From the Information Desk working with Creative Bank Accounting Department

This week, we wanted to give you a comic recommendation to fill your creative bank accounts with. Honestly, this recommendation comes from a very special place in my heart specifically as, in my opinion, this is the very best newspaper comic of all time. Bill Watterson’s Calvin and Hobbes follows the adventure of a young boy named Calvin and his stuffed tiger Hobbes as they go on a myriad of adventures, ponder life’s deepest mysteries, and create trouble wherever they go. This comic was introduced to me at a very young age by my elementary school computer teacher who, when seeing a little boy who was often considered weird by those around him, could do well by reading about the adventures of another weird little boy and his pet tiger. She gave me one of the first collected editions and then it was over for me. I soon became a fan for life and have now collected the entire series in paperback. If you’re looking for a comic with stellar writing, hilarious jokes, deep stories, and heartwarming moments, this is the comic for you. I’ve introduced Pixie to these comics, and she has become a fan of them as well. Don’t miss out on this classic book as you can find small, collected editions with a small selection of strips or you can also by the whole collection as well. If you’re interested in purchasing them for yourself or someone you know, please check out the link below!

5) Awesome fan Art from a Galaxy Far, Far Away! -

From the Office of Imaginative Illustration

For this week’s awesome fanart, I came across a whole series of images illustrated by Matt Rhodes for a contest that was going on through ArtStation a couple years ago. In it, all the contestants were reimagining different Star Wars scenes in new and unique ways. Out of all the other artists, Matt Rhodes images stood out as my favorites. Please go to the link below to check out all of Matt’s illustrations as they are amazing! Matt’s ArtStation page is also the second link below. [We are not sponsored by Matt Rhodes.
