Howdy Astounding Allies!

It’s that time of the week folks! Here’s another newsblog coming your way letting you know all the awesome stuff we’re up to here at Bear & Pixie Art Studio as well as some cool stuff we’ve seen lately that we just had to share with you. We really hope you love this post and that it brings a lot of joy into your day!

1) Dummy Books are Underway! -

From the Visual Development Department

On this week’s studio update, we wanted to show you a little concept work we are doing as we put a few dummy children’s books together to shop around to different publishers to see if we can get one of them published. This one is more of a Christmas story that we thought would be cute. We don’t want to give away too much about this right now but we wanted to show you a sketch of one of the characters who is an elf agent sent by Santa Claus for a very specific mission. Over the next few weeks and months, we’ll probably continue to show you some of these sketchy glimpses at different ideas we played with for some of these different dummy books we’re putting together so keep your station tuned in to all things Bear & Pixie Art Studio for more sneak peeks like this one!

2) We’ve Had a “Hell” of a Time Watching This! –

From the Entertainment Review Board

It seems like Pixie and I are on an anime kick right now as we continue our quest to watch everything animated. Right now, we are watching a show called Blue Exorcist. This show follows a boy named Rin Okumura and his twin brother Yukio. Both Rin and Yukio are the sons of Satan. Yes, that Satan. The show centers on Rin discovering he has powers that he inherited from his father while his Exorcist brother Yukio starts to train him to become an Exorcist. This show boasts incredible animation, interesting characters, and a gripping story that you want to binge to see what happens next. Even the filler episodes are heartwarming and great to watch! The Bear & Pixie official rating for this show is a solid 8 out of 10. While there are a lot of good aspects of the show, sometimes they get bogged down by a lot of over-sexualization of characters as well as some story/character choices that make you scratch your head sometimes. Warning to parents, this show is not for kids as there is a lot of language as well as some sexual content. Watch this first before you give permission for your kids to watch it. We recommend you check out this show ASAP as it’s a great watch. You can find it on Netflix or Funimation if you have an account for either of those services. [WE ARE NOT SPONSORED BY ANY COMPANY. 3) Artist Shout-Out

From the Artist Association Department

For the artist shout-out of this newsblog, Pixie and I couldn’t help but pick an artist who has had a profound emotional effect on us with his art. This week’s artist is Pascal Campion. If you haven’t heard of him yet, he mainly posts on Instagram with these beautiful pieces of art that always seem to perfectly capture the beauty of life and the world us. He likes to post these comics that star a guy and his cat as they sometimes cover funny topics, go on adventures, or have deep talks about philosophy, life, or a myriad of other subjects. These comics are so good and always speak to our hearts in profound ways. It’s hard to quantify what exactly makes Campion’s comics have this feeling to them but they just seem to have this capability to inspire, encourage, and to soak up every good or bad moment you’re given. The thing I have learned most from each of his strips is that even the worst feelings or moments have a certain beauty to them. Those moments can help you grow, push yourself to be better, and even teach you worthwhile lessons. His art has such a great command of light, shadow, emotion, and captures the human experience in a truly heartfelt way. Make sure to give him a follow on Instagram and check out his art and comics for yourself! [We are not sponsored by Pascal Campion. We are only fans and genuinely wanted to give a shoutout.]

4) We’re excited for this to come out! -

From the Department of Research and Recreation

One of the things Pixie and I are definitely excited to have come out soon is the new Nintendo Switch model that has the bigger 7-inch OLED screen. I had a Nintendo Switch a long time ago that I thoroughly enjoyed but my little sister ended up stealing all the time with it so I never really got a chance to play. However, when I did, it was always such a blast whether I was playing an awesome platformer like Sonic Mania, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart, or Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze. I ended up giving the old Switch to her as I knew it would be an effort in futility to get it back but, someday, Pixie and I hope to get another one that we can use to play fun games with each other as well as our friends. If you want to have a console that has a ton of fun games, you can take with you on the go, and can create some fun get-togethers with, then maybe you should consider getting a Switch! As artists, it is always important to fill your “creative bank account” as Jake Parker would tell you. One of these days, I’ll write a section about that concept in one of our upcoming newsblogs. Seriously, if you’re looking for some awesome games to play and a way to create some incredible memories in your life, you should consider getting a Switch. [WE ARE NOT SPONSORED BY ANY COMPANY. 5) Coolest Kicks Around! -

From the Entrepreneurial Creativity Division

One of the things I saw a couple of years ago, that I thought was so cool, was the idea of taking some plain colored shoes and putting some custom art on them. Usually, artists will take some plain vans or converse and throw up some amazing fan art on them. They’ll paint anything from Rick and Morty, Pokémon, favorite sports stars or celebrities, favorite teams, characters, or whatever else and make incredible designs that are incredible to look at as well as fun to wear. The best ones, in my opinion, take these different IPs (intellectual properties) and figure out a cool illustration idea to put on a shoe. This one pictured below is taking the Tardis from Doctor Who and painting it into Van Gogh’s Starry Night. I would totally get these if I had the money to spend on them! The other thing I was thinking when seeing this was how cool it would be to custom paint other stuff like this. What if an artist did this kind of thing with controllers, consoles, laptops, guitars, or whatever else? Someday, I hope to be able to experiment with all these different ideas and make some cool custom art on my favorite things that I could hopefully share with the world. Anyway, when you’ve got some time to kill, you should just google or search for “custom hand-painted shoes” on Instagram and just get lost in all the cool design ideas! Links below to the shoes pictured here and to the Etsy search for custom hand painted shoes. Who knows? You might see something you like and get some cool custom shoes!
