1) Our New Webcomic -

From the Storytelling Division

This week, we finally have an illustration to show you from our upcoming webcomic project! This illustration below is a teaser image that we can show you of our new story tentatively titled Soul Canvas. That’s the title we really like so far but, you never know, it could change in the future. The story follows a young woman named Aurianna who is thrust into an adventure as she accidentally gets transported to an otherworldly realm. We can’t wait to share more about this story in the coming months but we hoped that this little taste will appease your appetite. To see more on Soul Canvas, please continue to follow us on all our social medias and keep your eyes peeled for everything Bear & Pixie Art Studios in the coming weeks.

2) I’d Give My Right Arm for a Good Story! –

From the Entertainment Review Board

This week, we’re back to recommending some amazing, animated content and this newsblog’s pick is one of the all-time greats! One of the benefits of having a spectacular wife is that she recommends some incredible stuff for the both of us to watch and nowhere was that truer than when she recommended we watch Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. This show is all about a couple of brothers who are alchemists in a world where people can transmute the world around them. One brother has lost his leg and arm and the other his body in an unfortunate childhood accident. Now, they are on a mission to regain their bodies back as they fulfill their duties as alchemists to their country. This show is the pinnacle of anime goodness with incredible character writing, exceptional overall story, and killer music. We think that this anime is a must-see when it comes to entertainment. This show also gets our first 10/10 rating as, in every single possible way, it hits in all the right places. This is one of the shows I’ve watched which has stirred some deep emotional responses from me through viewing. Do be warned, this show is NOT for kids. There is some language, very intense scenes, and a decent amount of gore. However, if none of this stuff matters to you, you need to check this out. You can watch all of it on Netflix if you have a subscription. For us, we found ourselves bingeing it as we just had to see what would happen next. [WE ARE NOT SPONSORED BY ANY COMPANY. 3) Artist Shout-Out

From the Artist Relations Division

As always, we love to take a chance every newsblog and shout-out an artist in the community who is inspiring us currently. Our pick for this newsblog is Dan Mora. This guy is an incredible comic book artist who has worked on titles like Detective Comics, Power Rangers, Once & Future, Klaus, Hexed¸ and I’m sure much more to come. This guy has an incredible knack for design and his line art is always super clean. He is impeccable for making all his different characters, creatures, props, and environments look unique and not the same across multiple books (which a lot of artists have a ton of trouble with). If you’re looking for some amazing comic art with some good stories, the books Dan Mora’s art is one of the absolute best places to start. He always ends up illustrating for books that have interesting story ideas or concepts that’s for sure! Make sure to check out his books and give him a follow on Instagram! [We are not sponsored by Dan Mora. We are only fans and genuinely wanted to give a shoutout.]

4) Don’t Forget to Read! -

From the Division of Success and Determination

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss

I know this may sound like the most boring part of the newsblog but seriously, don’t skip this section! You might be surprised with what you learn.

Recently, I was reminded of the real benefits from an article that I was reading by ComfyLiving titled, “21 Captivating Reading Statistics and Facts for 2021” by Mira Rakicevic. In this article, the author goes on to describe all the different benefits people of all ages get from reading just 30 minutes a day or even just 30 minutes a week. Did you know reading can literally help you to not have as much mental decline as you get older? Or that reading fiction books can help you become better at making decisions? These are just a couple of things in this article that just blew my mind! Another was that reading before bed can help you have more sound sleep too. I don’t know about you, but that’s something I need! Lately, I have been wanting to get back into reading more frequently as a person. There are numerous different studies that show how people who read regularly often find more success than those who don’t. I have heard that college students who read just 30 minutes a day end up hitting scholastic and career milestones faster than students who didn’t read 30 minutes a day. Outside of that, one thing I noticed in the lives of super successful people like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and Oprah is that they all love to read a lot. They all talk about how reading a lot was something that allowed them to gain more knowledge to better tackle the challenges they faced and equipped them with what they needed to succeed. For me, I have seen that, as I have started to read more frequently, I have found a place in my life where I have really started to have financial success in my life. So, for the last couple months, I have been pushing myself to read at least 30 minutes a day. A lot of articles I have read show that just by reading 30 minutes a day you can start to see a massive improvement in your everyday life and in your future health. Let me tell you, since starting this habit I have noticed a marked difference so far! I feel like I sleep better, retain more information, am less stressed, and have been able to apply what I’ve learned in some cases into my everyday life. Hopefully, after a while, I can start to put more time a day into it but for now, I just want to start there. Let us know in the comments below if you feel like you might try to start this challenge with us! Hopefully, you’ll find a lot of fun and enjoyment through reading a little bit every day like I have.

5) More Pokémon Stuff?! -

From the Office of Creative Obsession

As I was scrolling on by through all my saved posts, I couldn’t help but come across these old drawings of Generation 1 Pokémon with an Alolan Form. In the Generation 7 games, GameFreak introduced the idea that Pokémon who lived in other regions could have evolved differently than other region’s versions of them. This was such a unique idea and I believe one of GameFreak’s best ideas to change things up within the Pokémon franchise. These three are fan art concepts of what different Pokémon regional variants would have looked like. They were all done by artist Logan Cure. In the link below, you can check out the rest of the article on GameTyrant that shows off some of his other renditions of regional variants. His idea of a Fighting-type Alakazam is so cool!! I wish GameFreak really leaned into this mechanic more instead of coming up with ridiculous other mechanics like Gigantamax Forms, Mega Evolutions, or Z-Moves to innovate the game. This way, it’s not just, “Let’s make Pokémon that are super strong!” and the idea is more about changing the mechanics of the game to give players new and interesting experiences. One fun thing I like to do online is look up artists who do regional variants of tons of different Pokémon. Next time you have some free time, you should totally check out some other artists ideas on variants of existing Pokémon online!
